The Team
As with any youth group there is an awesome team, (modest too), who organise, setup and run the various events put on for the young people in the area.
From getting soaked by water pistols to being beaten at UNO. From sharing our experiences of life and God to praying with our youth. The team has a passion to make a difference in the lives of young people. They are committed to encouraging, supporting and helping however they can. Their desire is to see them draw closer to God, and have an absolute blast while doing it.
The individuals listed below are the core “Youth Team” but much of what happens would not be possible without the prayers and pratical help of the many others. Our church is committed to making a difference in the community, thanks to all for the support.
Below are brief bios on each of us, it should be noted the bits in italics are comments made by the youth about the team.
Julian and Ruth Beale
Julian is the part time (yeah right) youthworker of the church. He is a man of immense grace and compassion. He is responsible for leading the team, planning, setting up and running all the youth activities and events. A graduate of Moorlands Bible College he joined SCC in the autumn of 2009 and took on the youth role in early 2010. His wife Ruth is an immense support to Julian and the team, a kind and thoughtful woman of God. Among their many roles they host the youth housegroup on a Tuesday night. Ruth can be found at most of our youth events with the first addition to their family, Joshua, born in the summer of 2010.
Jules is a very easy person to talk to and is always ready to listen if you ever need to talk. He is a kind and helpful person and always has a smile on his face. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him.
Jules & Ruth are the parents of a beautiful baby boy- Joshua. Julian is the church youth worker, who is extremely wise. He knows the bible better than anyone we know. Jules knows exactly how to embarrass us but is also very honest. Ruth is so unbelievably patient and an amazing listener. She always smiles and knows how to make us smile too. The are both incredibly welcoming and loving.
James and Jess Shepherd
James has been in Bournemouth for a number of years and after they were married in the summer of 2010 Jess joined him in Bournemouth, the church and the youth ministry. They are, among other things, amazing musicians, and as a result lead “The Grid” band. They are a passionate, committed and faithful couple who are always up for a laugh.
James & Jess, are both incredibly musically gifted. James always has us in stiches with his hilarious personality (like his funny voices and gestures). We love being amused by Jess’ funny stories of how her and James met. They are both really kind and are great at sorting out problems and cheering us up.
James is a great guy who is up for a laugh and is fun to be around. He is witty and is good at making people smile. His competitiveness makes him a great games leader. He is good at making new people feel welcome.
Jess is a lovely woman who is always ready to listen to anyone’s problems. She is always there to help sort them out too. She’s great at encouraging people.
Matt and Ruth Young.
Matt and Ruth have been married since the summer of 2009, the couple put their all into everything they get involved in, and the youth team is no different. Matt has a very dry and brilliant sense of humour and Ruth wants to look after everyone, her love for people shines through. They are patient and kind, and always have time to listen and are wise beyond their years. They will always be considered part of the team , but are cuurently taking a break as they recently had their first child (congratulations!)
Matt & Ruth are caring towards everyone; they are beautiful inside and out. Matt is so much fun to be around and comes out with some great one-liners. Ruth is like a big sister who always joins in and gets excited just like we do. Matt & Ruth are amazing because they are always there for us.
