JAM pots full!

It’s with a mixture of joy (because it’s popular) and sadness that we have made the decision to close registration of JAM to newcomers.

We believe that getting to know those who come and being able to relate to them properly is a key part of what we are doing. With only an hour and a quarter a week, that is getting harder as the ratio of adults to children has risen. With over 50 currently registered, there is obviously a demand for this sort of club, and from what we see each week the kids enjoy it immensely.

We will be loosing another helper after half term, as they move away to start a new job. We have taken the decision now before the club becomes less fun for everyone.

We will be running a waiting list for those who still want to come, and will regularly check to see who’s not been coming so that we can bring new people in as soon as possible. When we get more helpers we will look to increase the number of places.

Summer Schedule

Well, it’s August and while God doesn’t take a holiday, a lot of his workers do, so we trim our timetable down a little during the summer to allow people to recover from the rest of the year. Just in case anyone comes looking, here is our summer schedule for this year.

• Sunday morning services will continue as usual (10:30) – there is no Splash/Bubbles for the kids, but we have something ‘easy preparation’ for them (OK, so it’s a Story Keepers DVD and some colouring/puzzles!) so they don’t have to sit through the adult sermon.
• There will be no evening services during August.
• Wed prayer meetings will continue as usual.
• Mums & Toddlers will continue on a Friday morning except 26th Aug and 2nd Sept.
• JAM and the Edge on Friday have finished until 9th Sept. If you want to book someone in for JAM next year (expanding the age range again means we may be too full to just take anyone who turns up on the night) please use the contact form.

JAM in the park

As of Thursday night it’s not looking very hopeful for getting to the park for the last Friday this school year. Check back tomorrow for a final decision if the weather is looking variable.

Not to worry though, we can have all our races and fun at the church instead (and the hot dogs and cakes!). That’s the advantage of having plenty of space to work with.

JAM & Edge update

There’s still a couple of weeks of JAM & the Edge left – they finish on the 22nd July (JAM have a trip to the park, if the weather is good). We’re letting the leaders have a well deserved summer break then, but both will be back again in September.

In September, we will be extending the age range for JAM to include anyone in primary school, to fill the gap between JAM and the Edge. This to mean we may actually be reach our limit of those attending, so we’re going to be giving priority to those already in JAM (or brothers and sisters if they’re coming into the new age range), and then to those who register in advance.

Summer schedule

Well, summer is here at last, you can tell as it’s been raining today. I thought it best to let everyone know what the summer schedule is this year:

Sunday services will be 10:30 as usual in the morning, but will only last about an hour. There will be no sunday school, but the younger children (primary school, or thereabouts) will have somewhere supervised to go during the preach with a drink and games or a video etc.
There won’t be any Sunday evening services during the rest of July or Aug. With the numbers having been fairly low the last few months and traditionally dropping over the summer, we thought it best to give those who spend the effort putting them together a rest. We’ll look at putting a more programmed schedule in for the autumn to hopefully encourage people to come along.

The Edge finished last Fri Update: I’ve just been told that apparently there’s something this Fri for the Edge – maybe a sleepover

JAM finishes tomorrow (22nd) with ice cream and ‘sports day’.

Mums & Toddlers will continue for the summer, with probably a week off at the end of Aug to allow the car park temporary toilets to be removed etc.

Wednesday prayer meetings will continue as usual.

House groups I confess to being unsure about. A lot of the Southbourne gang are having babies, so we’re taking a break. Check with the leaders for the other groups.

The website will continue, but might not get a sermon update every week. I’ll post those that have something recordable (I expect a few may be more visual/interactive which doesn’t really work on mp3, and I’m not up to video every week).

Easter schedule

Meeting times over Easter are as follows:

Good Friday (2nd Apr)

10:30 Service (approx 45 mins)
Neither Mums & Toddlers or JAM are  running on Good Friday.

Easter Sunday (4th Apr)

10:30 Family service.
No evening service

Easter Mon (5th Apr)

No Discipleship Explored (the course finished last week).

Fri 9th & 16th Apr

Mums & Toddlers will be running as usual.

JAM is not on as it’s still the school holidays.
