Summer Schedule

Well, it’s August and while God doesn’t take a holiday, a lot of his workers do, so we trim our timetable down a little during the summer to allow people to recover from the rest of the year. Just in case anyone comes looking, here is our summer schedule for this year.

• Sunday morning services will continue as usual (10:30) – there is no Splash/Bubbles for the kids, but we have something ‘easy preparation’ for them (OK, so it’s a Story Keepers DVD and some colouring/puzzles!) so they don’t have to sit through the adult sermon.
• There will be no evening services during August.
• Wed prayer meetings will continue as usual.
• Mums & Toddlers will continue on a Friday morning except 26th Aug and 2nd Sept.
• JAM and the Edge on Friday have finished until 9th Sept. If you want to book someone in for JAM next year (expanding the age range again means we may be too full to just take anyone who turns up on the night) please use the contact form.

Normality resumes

Also, happy star wars day.

After the manic running about of Easter and weddings and bank holidays, everything has to go back to normal eventually (unfortunately).

So Prayer meeting is on tonight (wed), not that that actually stopped. Mums & Toddlers, JAM and the Edge are all back on Friday. Services are (at least as far as I know) all back to normal on Sunday as well.

New Elder

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Sharp as an elder as of the AGM on 29th. We will fill in more details (including picture) on the people page in due course.

This is an interim appointment, lasting until the next full eldership process due next May, at which point the whole eldership will be eligable for re-appointment (if you still want us).

Leaders Lunch with Roy Crowne

Before he speaks at the Grid, we will be hosting a free ‘Leaders Lunch’ with Roy on 18th Feb at 12:30.

Roy ‘s vision is to see the local churches working together to impact their community for Christ and will be sharing some practical ways to engage within our local area.

If you’re part of the leadership for a local church we would love to see you there. If you would like to come, please call the church office on 01202 303036.

Roy was the National Director of  Youth for Christ  in Britain and now he leads the team at HOPE together.

Roy has written and edited a peer-to-peer evangelistic training course, called ‘The Art of Connecting’.

He was one of the founders of Hope08. He is arguably the most positive and enthusiastic HOPE visionary you could ever meet.

The Grid – 18th Feb

The next Grid event is coming up on 18th Feb.

Roy Crowne, executive director of Hope together, previously head of Youth for Christ will be our speaker this month.

New Building thanksgiving/open evening

New Extension

I think we’ve finally settled on details for the official opening event enough for me to commit it to the everlasting archive that is the internet.

On Saturday 16th October, we will be having a brief open evening from 5:30, for general nosy-ing around the extension. We will have information about the events we run at the church, and the regular groups that use the facilities.

At 6pm, we will be having a short service of thanksgiving, followed by tea/coffee etc and cakes (which if they look like the pictures we’ve been given will be both miraculous and delicious).

At around 7:30 we will be having a Quiz Aid evening in support of Christian Aid. Come along with a team, or by yourself (we’ll find some friendly faces for you to team up with).
