Charity event weekend

// June 17th, 2010 // Comments Off // News

It appears to be charity event weekend here at SCC (though none of the events are actually at the church).

On Saturday, Lissy Fish and Pastor Dave are swimming just over 1 mile between the Boscombe and Bournemouth piers. That’s in the sea. With waves and stuff. Sounds cold to me.I want to say that ’some others’ are swimming as well, but no-one seems to be able to tell me if that’s anyone I know or not. Either way, they’re starting at 12:00 (Boscombe pier) if you want to come and encourage them.

Also, on Sat evening at 9:00 Alex is starting to walk a marathon in aid of breast cancer for which I understand he has to wear a bra (the moonwalk). Fortunately that’s in Edinburgh so neither the smell from his feet or the screams of those seeing him in womens underwear should reach us down here. Seriously though we all wish him well also and hope we don’t see him joining the ‘foot issues’ row at the front of church when he’s back.

The Edge LogoWe are pleased to announce that our new club ‘The Edge’ is opening it’s doors this week.
The Edge is a club for the youth (11-18’s) of the church and surrounding area to come and unwind at the end of a long week. Running on fridays from 7.30-9pm it’s an opportunity to come and play games, build friendships, relax and learn about God in a safe environment.
It costs £1 a week per person which covers costs and a tuck shop is also available at very nominal prices.

If you weren’t convinced yesterday, you will be now. If you look carefully though you might notice a cowboy on the digger.

SCC

For anyone who wasn’t at the AGM, the building work will be starting on Monday.

They will be disconnecting the water the the existing toilets on Monday and starting demolition on Tues.

Obviously, there’s still some element of ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’, but swing by next week and you’ll be able to see it. God willing, of course.

Let’s just hope the temporary toilets turn up as well….

New Youth Worker!

// February 28th, 2010 // 2 Comments » // News, Youth

As announced this morning, we are pleased to welcome Julian ‘Jules’ Beale as our new youth worker.

This is a part time and fixed term initially for 1 year, as we have enough money in the bank to commit to this. We are hopeful that God will bless us to be able to extend this after a year, and that we will grow to needing full time youth cover.

We are very grateful for the opportunity this gives us, and expect to have lots of exiting news as to what the youth are up to soon.
